Community Service Work-Study Program

Students who have been awarded federal work study have an opportunity to take an active role in the greater community while still earning money. We currently have many community service positions available, ranging from reading and math tutoring in local elementary school, working with the Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, OU Medical Volunteer Center, public libraries and many other organizations. With many jobs currently available, eligible students are sure to find a meaningful and enjoyable job that is just right for them.

While working for one of the approved organizations below, your volunteer service will earn you $8.50 an hour while providing valuable service to your community.

If you are interested in an off-campus community service position, please do the following:

  1. Check your financial aid package to make sure you have an offer of federal work study.
  2. Contact an employer on the list below and notify them of your interest in a position with their organization. Be sure to inform them that you are a student with OCU and a part of OCU鈥檚 Off-Campus Community Service Program.
  3. If home on break (Christmas or spring), you can work for an approved employer as long as you have the employer approved through the Student Employment office prior to you working. An Off-Campus Agreement and job description would need to be signed by the employer.
  4. When hired, contact Jan Stovall at [email protected] or 405-208-5730 for instructions.

"The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others"
