Undergraduate music major applicants will automatically receive their music talent scholarship offer alongside their audition results. Your OCU Admissions counselor will be your primary contact for ensuring you have completed all steps for securing additional academic scholarship awards. Music talent scholarships and academic scholarships can stack to cover up to 100% of tuition!
Other financial opportunities may be available in the form of need-based aid, FAFSA grants, Federal Work Study, campus jobs, and more. If you have any concerns with your financial offer, do not hesitate to reach out to us to discuss further.
Non-Major Music Scholarships
Music scholarship opportunities exist for OCU students who are not music majors as well as music majors with a secondary area of specialization! We are pleased to offer non-major instrumental scholarships in the following areas:
- Wind Bands (brasswinds, woodwinds, percussion)
- Symphony Orchestra (strings)
- Keyboard (piano, organ)
- Guitar
Non-major music scholarships require an audition for consideration. For more information, please visit the Music Auditions page and submit a audition form on - either a live audition or video submission are equally acceptable for non-major scholarship consideration. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you receive a non-major music scholarship offer, you are not required to accept it.
All students who accept their non-major scholarship offer must participate in ensembles and private lesson studies to receive the scholarship.
All scholarship offers are based upon the candidate's quality of application and audition. Students who accept Music Scholarships are required abide by the terms and policies regarding ensemble participation and GPA found in the Bass School of Music Student Handbook.

Graduate Assistantships
The Wanda L. Bass School of Music is proud to offer Graduate Assistantships in the following areas:
- Blackwelder Brass Quintet (trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba)
- Graduate String Quartet (violin, viola, cello)
- Graduate Woodwind Quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn)
- Jazz (saxophone, trumpet, trombone, double bass)
- Classical Saxophone
- Euphonium
- Guitar
- Percussion
- Opera Voice
Graduate Assistantships include a full tuition waiver and small stipend.
OCU's graduate assistantships require ongoing ensemble participation but otherwise do not have any minimum contracted hours, which provides our graduate students with maximum freedom to pursue practice time, gigging, competitions, and projects.
Ensemble Performance Assistantships
We are also proud to offer Ensemble Performance Assistantships in the following areas:
- Wind Bands (brasswinds, woodwinds, percussion)
- Symphony Orchestra (strings)
Ensemble Performance Assistantships include a full tuition waiver and no stipend. Ongoing ensemble participation is required.
Graduate Scholarship Awards
In lieu of an available assistantship, graduate applicants may receive up to 100% of tuition in the form of a Scholarship Award. Ongoing ensemble participation is required.
All graduate assistantship and scholarship offers are based upon the candidate's quality of application and audition. No additional paperwork, communication, or interview is required for assistantship and scholarship consideration. Students who accept Music Scholarships are required abide by the terms and policies regarding ensemble participation and GPA found in the Bass School of Music Student Handbook.
