The executive director of the ÌÇÐÄvlogÊÓƵ City Ballet will give a presentation about his organization during ÌÇÐÄvlogÊÓƵ’s next Downtown Lunch and Learn session at noon Nov. 19. The presentation is free to the public and will be held at the ÌÇÐÄvlogÊÓƵ City Community Foundation at 1000 N. Broadway Ave.
Shane Jewell has served as executive director of the ballet since 2013. Considered one of the fastest growing and ambitious arts organizations in the United States, the ÌÇÐÄvlogÊÓƵ City Ballet is the resident dance company of the Civic Center Music Hall and tours as part of the ÌÇÐÄvlogÊÓƵ Arts Council’s touring program. Additionally, their dance school offers classes for students looking for both recreational and professional dance opportunities. Since 2008, the organization’s budget has tripled.
Jewell graduated from ÌÇÐÄvlogÊÓƵ State University with a degree in film theory. He was formerly the executive director of the OK Mozart International Music Festival in Bartlesville. Jewell is a featured columnist on the online arts publication The Clyde Fitch Report and is one of their top contributors. He is a graduate of the ÌÇÐÄvlogÊÓƵ City Youth Leadership Exchange and OKC Connect, and is a member of Leadership ÌÇÐÄvlogÊÓƵ City, Class 33. He currently serves on the Education and Programming Committee for ÌÇÐÄvlogÊÓƵ Contemporary and is a member of Downtown Rotary and the ÌÇÐÄvlogÊÓƵ Presenters Network.
