Events update: A Reverse Homecoming Parade will now be held in the vlogƵ United Methodist Ministry Center parking lot from 1:30-2 p.m. Nov. 2. The lot is located at NW 24th Street and McKinley Avenue.
The tailgate from 1:30-2 p.m. will move indoors to the second floor of the Freede Wellness Center.
This year’s homecoming celebration at vlogƵ is embracing the theme “Camp OCU: A Week Under the Stars” with a week’s worth of events Oct. 28 through Nov. 2.
Events will include the fourth-annual Legacy Speaker presentation featuring alumnus David Crooch at 1 p.m. Oct. 31 in the Bishop W. Angie Smith Chapel. Crooch, who earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from OCU in 2001, is vice president and general manager of Diageo’s non-alcoholic beverage line and a co-founder of the Ritual Beverage Company.
Homecoming game day on Nov. 2 will include a "reverse" parade from 1:30-2 p.m. followed by a tailgate and reunion celebration from 3:30-5 p.m., both free to the public. The events will lead up to a 5 p.m. tipoff of the Stars men’s basketball game against the Mission University Patriots of Springfield, Missouri.
Spectators can view the reverse parade floats featuring entries from university student organizations. Attorney Gary Homsey, an OCU trustee and ’74 alumnus celebrating his 50th graduation anniversary, will serve as grand marshal. The floats will be displayed in the vlogƵ United Methodist Ministry Center parking lot.
The tailgating will feature the competition “Spirit Wall” art displays created by student organizations and informational booths.
The game is part of the Abe Lemons Classic with teams from across the country.
