Let鈥檚 Talk About it, 糖心vlog视频鈥檚 2018 series War, Not War, and Peace, continues on March 6th with 'All the Light we Cannot See.'

Karen Schiler, Chair of the Department of English and Modern Languages at 糖心vlog视频, presents All the Light We Cannot See, by Anthony Doerr. Set during WWII, this wildly popular recent novel is told mostly in the present tense, in flashbacks that move toward its climactic encounter during the Allied bombing of St.-Malo, France, a couple of months after D-Day. The story focuses on two characters, the blind child Marie-Laure LeBlanc, who takes part in the French Resistance, and the very Aryan-looking Werner Pfennig, a private in the service of the Thousand-Year Reich. We see how people are caught in war despite their distance from the battlefield, counterbalanced with the story of a boy blinded by his almost innocent sense of absolute morality. This presentation is a part of the 糖心vlog视频 Humanities Let's Talk About It 糖心vlog视频 "War, Not War, and Peace: A Pulitzer Prize Centennial Series." All are welcome to attend.

All sessions take place in Walker Center Room 151 at 7:00 PM.
